Pastor James Cozart

Reverend James Cozart III was born in Richmond, Virginia to Ms. Lena
Cozart and the late Mr. James Cozart. Reverend Cozart is a product of
Richmond Public Schools, where he graduated from Armstrong High
School. He continued his education at Virginia Tech, The Evan Smith
Leadership Institute at Virginia Union University, the Richmond
Virginia Seminary, and Regent University where he received a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Biblical and Theological Studies. Reverend Cozart
was licensed to preach the Gospel in 1997 by the Mount Calvary Baptist
Church in Richmond, Virginia, where he was ordained in 2004. While at
Mount Calvary he served as the teacher for the Men’s Sunday School
Class, Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School, and Minister of
Christian Education. December 2023 he was installed as Pastor of the
Sandy Mount Baptist Church of Smithfield, Va. He is the proud
husband to the former Ms. Sheila Fields of Surry County, Virginia, and
they have five children and three grandchildren.
